Fettsäuren werden für die Produktion von Polyolestern für Nahrungsmittel, Kosmetika, Körperpflegeprodukte, pharmazeutische Produkte und in der Metallbearbeitung verwendet. Sie können auch für die Herstellung vieler anderer Derivate wie Fettalkohole, Fettamine und Seifen verwendet werden.
